Wow... SFWA certainly has its fair share of misogynists, racists, etc. ... I wonder if this is going to be remembered as a demarkation point between "old" and "new" style writers (nothing to do with age, fyi). Finally someone noticed the 800 lb. gorrilla in the room and said something. I am sure other similar organizations are taking a look at this and then themselves and wondering, depending on their executive's outlook, a) how to cover their asses, or b) how to ensure they self-reflect to see whether they are driving people away too.
