The Number 23, the Movie
Feb. 27th, 2007 10:35 pmWell, the team I am on at Fnord went out to see the 23 movie.
Short review, it's great, if you know what you are getting into. It is very much a post-modernist movie, like the author's works which it is ultimately based upon, Robert Anton Wilson. It is probably as close as a Hollywood movie could get to being true to the spirit of Illuminatus! and Schrodinger's cat. I won't give away any of the plot details, but if you are a Discordian, you will love the 23s, and the in-jokes. The writer & director of the movie are obviously fairly familiar with RAW's works, and this makes the movie a venerable smorgasbord of Discordian culture, without giving anything away...too much. :-)
If you are not a Discordian, well, it might be an OK thriller. It's obviously popular, based upon the box office take...or that simply could be the "23 Effect"...
