The US Election

Best Presidential Candidate for Nerds?
3187 total votes.

Hillary Rodham Clinton 62 votes / 1%
John McCain 44 votes / 1%
Mike Gravel 88 votes / 2%
Rudy Giuliani 129 votes / 4%
Barack Obama 382 votes / 11%
Cthulhu 584 votes / 18%
Al Gore 725 votes / 22%
Ron Paul 1173 votes / 36%

Over on Slashdot.org, they recently polled their membership on which of the named candidates would be the best President for Nerds. The surprise winner, with 36% of the vote was Ron Paul. Now this guy is not too popular with the mainstream Republican crowd because he has spoken the truth about various topics. For example, he hasn't toed the Republican Line, as set by Bush Jr, that the various groups of Muslims hate the US (and thus most of the "free" world) because of our "Freedoms". He has said that it is because of the US Foreign Policies that they "hate" us. Remember, it is because the US had a base in Saudi Arabia that Osama bin Laden formed his organization, Al Quada, for bin Laden felt that desecrated the holiness of the land.

So, if the Geeks were in control, either Ron Paul or Al Gore would be President....as we all know that the popular vote doesn't count. What is also interesting is that more people voted for Cthulhu than *any* of the other candidates...showing there is a strong protest vote about the system.

So, what do you think?

[profile] americanstd is a giant Ron Paul fan, ever since Dr. Paul signed his Libertarian Party membership card in 1988. He often posts about him. So do I, for that matter. So I will be doing the unthinkable and joining the Republican party in December so I can vote for him in the primaries.

God, I hate Ron Paul. A return to the gold standard? Abolishing the Federal Reserve? Is he insane?

I nominate IGGY POP!
