Something's a foot!

Imagine sandals that fit your foot like...a food!
[edit]....um...I meant "foot"...[livejournal.com profile] lexpendragon's comment left me in a LOL, rolling in the isles state.

That's the idea behind these innovative sandles. This innovative foot ware comes in three types, depending on how well fastened they are to your body. The above sandals are called the FiveFingers Sprint, while the less secure is known as the FiveFingers Classic and the FiveFingers Surge. The "Surge" is fascinating, in that it is a full boot:

In theory, these would be very comfortable to walk in, and probably would get you noticed while out walking!

[Edit]
It seems that Mountain Equipment Co-op carries these sandals!

I stepped on a Pizza once. I wasn't impressed with the fit.

They're intended as hiking boots for people who love to be barefoot. Why not really be barefoot? Sharp nettles and poison ivy and things. My friend [profile] naohai is probably buying a pair.

I love the cool factor of these - I almost bought a pair - but Im a little worried about chafind between the toes on the material - toes arent used to having stuff between them like that, aside frmo a sandalstrap for those who use them.

If you know someone who has one, I would be interested in observations on this point,.

socks with toes feel really, really great.

once I had a pair of boots with a sole like those on the pic, no toes though. nothing for the cold season but great to feel the ground, the little stone--without hurting myself on (small) shards. I would love to get such a pair of boot again. (and underneath socks with toes =)
