Angel, or Angle?
Apr. 24th, 2003 07:59 amAlthough not as good as Babylon-5, the Buffy/Angel series are pretty good. The self-consistancy is much better than most of the SF shows like Enterprise and Stargate. The B/A Universe is much more interesting that the Star Trek one in Enterprise...they have *real* alien looking creatures, unlike the "head-appliance of the week" Star Trek ones. At least in the original ST Series, they had aliens that were not humanoid.
I think that the big problem with most SF and Fantasy series on TV, and in the Movies, is that they are not writen/created by people who know the Genre...and thus make all the same mistakes that decent SF&F writers stopped making in the 1950s! A little while ago on Slashdot.org, one of the debates was about why the latest STrek Movie, Nemesis did so badly...and I responsed that it was because they didn't have any SF writers, and that the Franchise would do better if they did have some real SF writers doing stories. It was one of the most popular posts in that discussion. A lot of people agreed with me. I wish some of the TV people could have read that thread...
