Internet access down...

Last tnight I watched my cable modem flash lights up and down the string of LEDs trying to connect and bring up a link...no luck...so today, I am held hostag at home between 1 and 5 pm waiting for the #$%@# Cable Guy to come and find out why my link is down, and before it went down, I was getting something inthe order of 30-50% packet loss. Joy joy joy.

So, I might be even more amis in posting here...Grrrrrrr.

A bit of silence

Well, I finally did it, I replaced my blazing fast 10 meg IBM 8 port Switching Hub (IBM Model 8271) which sounds like a small jet idling it's engine with a totally silent 8 port SMC 10/100 meg switching hub. Cost of the former was $0, the latter, $40. The benefit...SILENCE!!!!! A bit of quiet is well worth the $40 investment, esp since I am currently sleeping in the computer room as my bedroom is filled with boxes and such...long story...

Tomorrow, I go to the Renaissance Fair here in Charlotte...I've never been to one, but I have been to lots and lots of SCA events. Alas, I can't find any of my SCA garb, about the only that I have to that fits in is sweat pants and a hat that replaces the one that was stolen when my first van was stolen. Maybe I will pick up one of those "pirate" shirts...

Well, it's nearly midnight, and I want to try and get some rest tonight.
