A new Filk!

Well, I couldn't get to sleep, being too inspired by a couple of hours of Peter Gabriel in 5.1 surround sound...so I wrote a filk. I'm not worried about too many people trying to steal it, since not a whole lot of people can play the tune very well...you see, it's to the Rush tune, The Trees, one of my fav songs to play on guitar for like forever. It is called "The Fans"...So here are the lyrics:

The Fans

There is unrest on the concom
There's trouble with the fen
For Truefen want more panels
and Mediafen can't comprehend.

The trouble with the truefen
And they're quite convinced their right
they say media fen read nothing
and are beedazeled by the light

But those fen can help their feelings
if they like TV and films
And they wonder why the truefen
can't be happy with their rooms?

There is unrest on the concom
and the Gophers all have flead
As the Truefen scream opression
And Mediafen shake their heads

So the truefen spawned their own con
to promote a reader's right
"The fakefans don't read nothing
stare like lemings at the light"

Now there's no more fan oppression
for the split one con in two
So the Truefans are now happy
And the Mediafen are too!

US politics

Well, I woke up early, and since I seem to have bashed the heel of my left foot on the corner of the bed, making it hard to walk, I sat in from of the TV all morning watching seemingly the only thing other than Christian programming, Political shows. Based upon everything that I see and See, I think that it is going to be a Dean-Gepheart Democractic billing, and they are going to win against Bush. Dean is going to get the intellectual and net-savvy voters, Gepheart will bring in the traditional labour based votes.

Speaking of tech savvy...

I had to explain to my boss why they can't seem to get much in the way of good computer people down here in Charlotte...and I had to tell him that conservative and good computer skills are not overlapping sets. And it makes a certain sense...computer people tend to be early adopters, or even on the bleeding edge, which is exactly opposite to where conservatives like to be. It also manifests in the fact that most good computer people are either Pagan or are Pagan sympathetic. Outside of the South, there are very few (if any) conserative/fundamentalist Christian computer Gurus. The only way that they are going to get any really good computer people is if they get really lucky, or they import them, like they did myself and our friend the Friar.

And of the opsolete Left-Right 1 dimentional map...

I found it very suprising when I got down here how people percieve CNN. In Canada, we see it as the Conservative Mouthpiece of the Right Wing in the US...but down here, the Right Wing calls it "The Clinton News Network"...and imply that it is a Liberal Mouthpiece. This should scare Canadians...The one TV news station that the Right Wing likes is Fox News. I have tried to spend time watching it, but tanj! It seems like many of the announcers and "personalities" there are more interested in promoting themselves or their ideology than reporting the news! To me, CNN has wide ranging spectrum, and a much more balanced view than Fox does. CNN tends to just report the news, albet with a heavy US slant, but being USAians, they can't help that. I'm still trying to find news down here that has a liberal slant...
