Some bad news...
Jan. 4th, 2005 12:33 amI was going to do a write up of the trip to Canada, but other, sad news has pre-empted said report...
One of the greatest illustrators of the 20th Century has died. Kelly Freas died in his sleep of essentially old age this past Sunday. His art graced the covers of Albums (Queen's News of the World) to books, to the covers of MAD Magazine, and many many points between and beyond.
Not only was he an incredable artist, but he was also a TANJ nice guy. He has mentored people, sharing his skills and knowledge, and was always willing to talk to people at conventions.
There are many stars in the night sky, and I hope that they name one after him, since he drew those stars so well, they almost looked like the real thing.
As I said to my friend Shelley earlier tonight, it seems the price we all pay for having survived out teen years is to have the people who made some of the biggest impressions on our lives pass away.
