Ups and Downs...

kallistiiWell, it's been an interesting week...
I went on one interview, and with two positions open, and three candidates, odds were in my favour...but I didn't get the job. I even chopped off most of my hair and my beard...but to no avail. To say the least, this is very discouraging! I've got qualifications up the wahzoo, I'm easy to get along with...and still no job.
In other news, I did finally find the complete Great Big Sea catalog to download. I own all of the CDs, but they are currently packed in various boxes both at home and at my parent's place. I have intended to rip them and put them on my HD to so I can listen to them, but never got around to doing so because of simply trying to find them. Now I don't have to...and they have been on "heavy rotation" on my computer for the past two days...lots of GBS goodness!
A while back, I switched from using Azureus to Ktorrent for downloading stuff off the Net. I liked Ktorrent, it was lightweight, not taking up many resources, and had lots of nice features. Azureus is a wonderful client, but as it runs under Java, it is somewhat of a pig. But, I was not happy with the transfer rates I was getting, and I wanted to know if it was the client, or the new ISP that the household switched too...so I decided to try out the latest, greatest version of Azureus. Wow...what a difference! I've been getting really good throughput with it, and if I "nice" it, it is not too bad, at least my CPU throttler keeps my CPU at 1 GHz, which means it uses less power, and runs cooler. I also have a mass-storage drive, where I store TV shows, music and such until I either watch, or add them to my normal listening group...and I even spin-down that drive when I am not using it.
Anyways, I am back to using Azureus again, and I am fairly happy with it. I wish there were more clients with lots of features under Linux...
In other news, I have been taking the Ritalin, and the big problem I keep on having is remember to take it...which is why the extended release would have been much better. :-( I am not noticing a lot of differences, but I seem to be winning Solitaire a lot more.
