Police Car Problems...

This is a weird one...it seemingly looks like the driver just backed up over the police card in a fit of rage...but watch the tail lights...the car's backup lights are not on! Strange...

The backup lights were on, they're just hard to see givent the low level of contrast in the video.

Truthfully, my car back up lights don't work. (This, apparently, isn't a barrier to getting my car inspected each year, but they always mention it to me.) So... that really doesn't prove anything. :)

Not sure if we're watching the same video - the left turn signal is on, then there is a quick flash of red brake lights while the driver shifts into reverse, then the lower white reverse lights come on, and off it goes.

My guess though is that it is not deliberate - my mom used to get reverse and drive mixed up when she was really flustered - drove into the garage once, and backed into a parked car when trying to go forward. My guess is that the car was trying to bolt, picked the wrong gear and floored it. Big oooops!

I used to work at a restuarant when I was like 14 and one evening a gentleman believed his car was in forward and started to move, and when it started backing up he freaked and slammed on the brakes, only he missed the breaks and slammed on the gas instead and drove his car right through the front window.

So i could see how it could be an accident, even though I agree it does kind of look deliberate.

I too have confused forward (Drive) with Reverse on occasion when driving, though I have been fortunate to avoid messes like this. IMNSHO, yet another good reason to Avoid Driving. :-)

And yes, his backup lights *are* on, though they are hard to see.
