More on the "sleep" study...

Well, today, I talked to my doctor's office manager about the tech who did the sleep study, it turns out that it was the last day that person was working, and they had 3 other complaints about the same tech. I'm not the world's bravest person, and I am frankly scared to go to another sleep study. I don't know what I am going to do now.

Sleep study a total "nightmare"... :)
Date: 2003-11-04 05:19 pm (UTC)I think you should give it another try, but first, try to arrange a meeting or tour, where the "rules" and customs are laid out for you in advance - They *should* have done this in the first place!!!!
They will have a chance to explain how the rules work, and in what areas you will be made comfortable and in what areas you will have to compromise. You will have a chance to explain your concerns and special needs. And don't feel like you are an exception - *everyone* has their own special quirky way of relaxing and falling asleep, just think how quirky all the *other* people requiring a sleep clinic are. You're lucky, now, that you have some experience in what to be wary about - you have better tools now for communicating your concerns.
At the very worst - prepare for a stark night of total boredom, and sit there in the dark thinking deep thoughts and contemplating life the universe and everything... If you don't fall asleep eventually, then they will recognise that as a problem in itself...
