Majel Barrett Roddenberry, 76, died today.

I met her a number of times over the years, and she was always seemd to be a gracious lady. Willing to speak to just about anyone, she frequently could be found in hallways chatting with someone. I chatted with her a couple of times, I don't remember about what, but in those minutes, it is easy to see what Gene saw in her. He was a very lucky man to have found her.

She is someone who will be remembered.

Sigh. As I'm not really that much of a Trekker, I never got that chance.

Now, if only the Powers that Be will get the ball rolling on the Future. When will large numbers of people start living in space, on the Moon, Mars, the Asteroids ...?

It looks as if our generation (and their immediate children, at least) will not get that chance. :-(
