The best laid plans...

Sunday:
Well, yesterday, I had hoped to get the McDonalds to get WiFi access, but a Snow Storm prevented me...yes, that's right a snow storm! I got out of the hotel at 10 am (11 am) and by the maps, it should have taken me about 3 hours to get to Yonkers...things started going wrong from the start...first I can't find an air pump that doesn't cost 50 cents to fill your tires...but then everything is fine...except that last night I find I had fogotten my cell phone charger at home...so will die at some point in the future...I picked up a 8 dollar charger that plugs into my lighter...so I am O.K. for that. I eventually get on the New Jersey Turnpike, and things are fine...unti it starts to snow...and it gets worse, and worse...until it is virtually a white out. I mean, the snow was wet snow, and would melt as soon as it hit the ground...but I ended up pulling off at a service area, where after going in to try and use their facilities, find out that everyone and their dog (Litterally!) has stopped there too...and there are at least a hundred people waiting to use everything. So I find an inconspicuous corner and do the deed. I then go back to my van and crash out for an hour...PDAs make O.K. alarm clocks!
So, I wake up, pack my stuff up, and head back out on the road...and 5 minutes later...it is stop and go. I spend almost two hours between exit 6 and exit 8. I don't know the area well enough to try alternate routes...I finally hit the NYC area, see the skyline for the first time without the Twin Towers...it looks...strange...definitely not right. I end up going across (not the conspiricy) the George Washington Bridge, swing on to the Major Deegan, and I'm practically there...
I finally got to my aunt's at 6 pm
After unloading, we go to the local dinner for lame hambergers and fries, then home. I start falling asleep, when my friend Heidi calls, and we make arrangements to get together on Wednesday.
It also turns out that I'm the only one visiting...there was a chance that my mom and sister would be down...
Monday:
Sleep in until noon. Have sandwidges with my aunt, then we go out for the 2 pm showing of Scooby Doo 2. Lots of fun! Very few brain cells activated, but enjoyable none the less..probably more so than the first SD movie.
I get back to my aunts, pull out my laptop and it turns out that I can access the net via a free access point at my aunts place. cool.
So, I might post more later...or maybe tomorrow.
