0. Ritual Briefing
There is no circle in ADF Style rituals. So don't worry about where you stand. If you feel like sitting, please sit. Today's ritual is about community. As such, there is going to be a place where you can step forward and Invoke or Ask the blessing for a Deity for you, your part of the community, or the greater Ottawa Pagan community.
(Ask for Questions)
1. Procession & Purification
From the hall to room. People will be aspirged as they enter with the words:
"In the name of Manannan, I welcome you, I cleanse you and I bless you"
2. Opening Prayers
"Today, we gather in the spirit of community. We open our hearts and minds to others of like interest, and listen to them. But we are not the first people to have traveled this path. Today, we will be asking those who are the Ancestors of Our Path to watch over us, to bless us and guide us this coming year."
3. Grove Attunement
"Close your eyes and relax. (count 2,3 in your mind)
"You can imagine that there is trust in the air.
"Breath in, and let it out.
"You have now all touched that air of trust.
"Take a deeper breath in and hold it, (count 1,2,3), and let it out.
"We have now shared the air of trust.
"Once more, take a deep breath and hold it (count 1,2,3), and let it out.
"We have trusted, we have shared that trust, and with that last breath, we have affirmed that trust, and we call that community."
4. Land, Sea and Sky
"On this planet, we have three realms, The Land, The Sea and the Sky. The Land is the realm of the Nature Spirits, The Sea is the realm of the Ancestors, and the Sky is the realm of the Gods. Today, we are Celebrating our community. But remember, that we are not the first ones who have traveled this path. There are many who have gone to the Otherworlds ahead of us after spending time upon this Planet. Today, we seek them, their advice, and their blessings.
“Upon this altar, we have three objects which represent the Three Realms. The bowl of earth represents The Land; the Chalice of water & salt represents The Sea; and the glass, which appears empty, but is not. It is full of air, and represents The Sky.
5. Opening the Gates
"We're sailing away, set and open course for the otherworlds
“And we're going to see, the realms of the gods and other beings.
Mannanans our captain, so climb aboard
And We'll search for tomorrow on other shores
And we'll try, Lady , I'll try to carry on"
6. Kindred Calls
Nature Spirits
The children of earth call out to the spirits of this land. Hear us, companions and teachers.
To all our allies, kindreds of stone and stream, crystal and fertile soil, pools and every water; kins of the earth, we offer you welcome.
To all our allies, kindreds of the growing green, herb and flower, shrub and mighty trees, root and stem and fruit. Green kins, we offer you welcome.
To all our allies, kindreds of fur and feather and scale, all who walk or fly or swim or crawl, we offer you welcome.
So, O noble ones, we call to you as our allies, in the joy of life upon earth, to join in our magic. Please come to our celebration, spirits; meet us at the boundary. Guide and ward us as we walk the elder ways. land-spirits, accept our sacrifice!
Ancestors
The children of the earth call out to the mighty dead. Hear us, our ancestors, our kindred.
To all those whose bones lie in this land, whose hearts are tied to it, whose memory holds it; ancient tribes of this place, we offer you welcome.
To all of our grandmothers and grandfathers, our own beloved dead, blood-kin and heart-kin; ancient tribes of our blood, we offer you welcome.
To all those elder wise ones who guide their people, poets and seers, judges and magicians; wise women and men of ancient days, we offer you welcome.
So, o mighty ones, we call to you as our kin, in the love of the all families, to join in our magic. Come to our celebration; meet us at the boundary. Guide and ward us as we walk the elder ways. Ancestors, accept our invitation!
Deities
The children of earth call out to the Gods. Hear us, eldest and brightest, the shining ones.
To all the shining ones, first children of the mother, wisest and mightiest, loving and comforting; gods and goddesses, we offer you welcome.
To the gods and goddesses of this place, ancient and powerful, known to us or unknown; gods of this place, we offer you welcome.
To all the deities of those here gathered, you whom we worship, you who bless our lives; o patrons and matrons, we offer you welcome.
So, o shining ones, we call to you as our elders, in reverence and love, to join in our magic. Come to our fire, shining ones; meet us at the boundary. guide and ward us as we walk the elder ways. deities, please accept our invitation!
Outdwellers
This place I name, this Land I do claim While me and my own are upon it.
You who choose not to assist us in our stated purpose, Whose voice will not harmonize with the tune we play this day,
Your function we honour, your purpose we respect, For you are among the many faces of the Great Mystery.
As a gift calls for a gift, we offer and pray,

(offering is made)
Asking only this:
Stay beyond the rim, and 'till the rite is done, And until then, Let there be peace between us.
7. Offerings
As we asked during the conference, now that we have called the Lords and Ladies of the Three Realms, now is the chance for you to address the community before Them. If you wrote your name, we will call you to the front and given the floor, if you wrote something on paper, we will read it out for you. At the end, if there is anyone else who would like a moment before our community to speak before the Lords and Ladies of the Three Realms, you will be given a chance to speak.
8. Omen
"Today, we have spoken many things about community before the Lords and Ladies of the Three Realms, now we ask them for their response.
(bring out the Magick 8 ball)
"Behold, the Magick Bart Simpson 8 Ball, the fount of all Wisdom. Through it's intervention, we shall seek our answer from the Lords and Ladies of the Three Realms."
Do
(Hold up the ball, shake it furiously, observe the result, and then announce it to the crowd)
"The Lords and Ladies have spoken, are we OK with what they have said, or do we seek more information?"
Repeat until happy.
9. The Long Goodbye
Now that we have spoken to the Lords and Ladies of the Three Realms, and we have received their replies, it is time to bring the rite to an end. We now say our goodbyes.
Deities
"Goddesses and Gods, we thank you for your time, your love and your blessings. Our rite today has ended. Stay if you will, go if you must, hail and fair well!"
Ancestors
"Ancestors of our Path, this Land and our Blood, we thank you for your time, your love and your blessings. Our rite today has ended. Stay if you will, go if you must, hail and fair well!"
Nature Spirits
"Spirits of Nature, we thank you for your time, your love and your blessings. Our rite today has ended. Stay if you will, go if you must, hail and fair well!"
Druids of the Rite
"Druids who have written and performed this rite, we thank you for you time and participation. Hail and fair well!"
Organizers of the Conference
"Organizers of this 6th Ottawa Pagan Conference, we thank you for you time and participation. Hail and fair well!"
The Community
"Pagans of the greater Ottawa Pagan Community, we thank you for you time and participation. Hail and fair well! YO YO YO! The Rite is done!"
