Sorry, couldn't embed the video, you will have to go to the site...

Watch this B-29RC do things that would make you hair stand on end...in fact, at one point, one of the pilots bails out! Also includes the flight of a replica Bell X-1. Nice Air Show footage!

One must have to have quite a lot of confidence to risk aerobatics that close to the ground, even in an RC plane (it'd take a LOT of work to build another like that!).

Did the engine start procedure look suicidally dangerous to anybody else? One hand behind the prop, one in front, when the prop starts spinning? So it's spinning between his arm and his body? YIKES!

It is an amazing model, and an amazing bit of flying. I really liked the X-1, which even had a rocket motor on it!

I am willing to bet that the plane is grossly overpowered, and thus is probably mover-engineered as well. There must be some sort of feedback system that manages the engines, otherwise you wouldn't have enough controls for the engines, landing gear, air controls, throttle, dropping the X-1...It's not a simple airplane to fly, especially remotely!

As for the engine startup...yup, kinda scary!

Grotesque amounts of power are always useful for aerobatics!

I wonder if maybe it uses a *pair* of controllers, or something; more channels than is standard? It does make sense to do some on-board engine control to present just a single engine (though of course that loses you the ability to use differential power for control).

I was thinking they may auto-coordinate the engines in sync with the left-right stick control...as you move the stick left, not only would it move the ailerons, it would also throttle back the left engines and throttle up the right ones, proportionally.
